Today and tomorrow banks will be on strike that is March 15 and March 16. However, due to the strike the banking services will hit. As the Union Forum of Bank Unions has given a call for the strike due to some government changes in the banks. This strike is called to protest against the Center’s proposal to privatize two public sectors in the country. As the bank users were already facing some problems due to the second Saturday and Sunday the banks were closed. Now on Monday and Tuesday, there is a strike so there is observed that banking services were affected for four days. As of 2014, it is also observed that the government has emerged 14 banking sectors. According to the data, we can observe that currently there are 12 government banks in the country. After that their number will be reduced to 10. As the privatization has now proposed this year.
Participants in the strike
According to the sources it was observed that UFBU and All India Bank Employees Association, 10 lakh bank employees will be the participants of the strike. There will be several other banks involved in this process. All India Bank Officers Confederation, National Confederation of Bank Employees, All India Bank Officers Association, and Bank Employees Confederation of India. National Organisation of Bank Officers and National Organisation of Bank Workers, Indian National Bank Officer’s Congress will be the participants in this strike.
Services to be hit due to strike
Services such as deposits and withdrawals at bank branches, cheque clearance, and loan approvals are likely to be affected due to this strike. But the users will not face any such problem as ATM services will continue to function normally. But banks have given assurance to the customers they are taking all necessary steps which will help in the smooth functioning of the bank offices. As ATM services will function so the consumers will not face many problems.
Banks will remain unaffected
There are some private banks which will make a sigh of relief for customers. These banks include ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and IndusInd Bank which are likely to be unaffected by the strike.
