Steven Tyler is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and former television judge. He is best known for his work with the rock band Aerosmith. His role as lead singer for the band Aerosmith, in which he also plays piano, harmonica, and percussion, is the primary reason for Tyler’s widespread recognition.

Early Life
On March 26, 1948, in the city of Manhattan, Steven Tyler was given the name Steven Tallarico at the time of his birth. Susan Ray, who worked as a secretary, and Victor Tallarico, who was a musician and pianist, gave birth to him. Because Tyler’s father was a classical musician, he had a profound interest in music at an early age.
His drug addiction got him kicked out of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, where he had been a student. In later years, he completed his education at Quintano’s School for Young Professionals and received his diploma.
Aerosmith
Tyler moved to Boston in the late 1960s and met Aerosmith members. Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Ray Tabano, and Joe Kramer. Tyler established Aerosmith in 1969 and became lead singer; Columbia Records signed the band in 1972. Aerosmith released their self-titled album the following year. “Dream On” was a little hint at the time, but became a hallmark song.
Toys in the Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976) were Aerosmith’s first commercially successful albums (1976). 1975’s “Sweet Emotion” was the band’s first Top 40 hit. “Dream On” was re-released in 1976 and reached No. 6 on the charts. “Walk This Way” was a later hit. They headlined stadiums and festivals by 1976.
By the end of the decade, the band disbanded. Tyler and Perry used heroin and amphetamine. Perry and Whitford departed the band for other pursuits, and Tyler added new members to keep it together.
He was injured in a motorbike accident and unable to tour for most of 1981. Tyler reformed his band in the mid-1980s following a protracted recovery treatment. Permanent Vacation included “Dude ” while “Pump” featured “Love in an Elevator” and “Janie’s Got a Gun.” Aerosmith credits the arrival of MTV for their continued popularity in 1993 when they released Get a Grip with singles like “Cryin’,” “Crazy,” and “Livin’ on the Edge.”
Aerosmith, despite not charting as high as before, continued to sell records and sell-out shows in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. Aerosmith has 15 studio albums, 9 of which are platinum or multi-platinum. I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing topped the US Billboard 100 in 1998. Aerosmith has won 7 AMAs, 4 BMAs, 4 Grammys, and 10 MTV VMAs. Aerosmith’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and Super Bowl XXXV performance increased their fame.
Tyler is also recognized for his collaborations with Run D.M.C. (Walk this Way version), Alice Cooper, Pink, Eminem (for The Eminem Show), and trumpeter Chris Botti. In July 2016, he released “We’re All Somebody from Somewhere.”
Other Ventures
Tyler’s film and television credits include Wayne’s World 2, The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, and Two and a Half Men, in addition to his long and distinguished musical career. In 2007, Tyler teamed up with Mark Dirico, and inventor, and engineer, to create Dirico Motorcycles. Two seasons on American Idol saw him as a judge. During the same year, he said that in 2003 he had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C and had undergone significant treatment for the condition. In 2008, he had several procedures performed on his legs to restore the damage to his feet.
Janie’s Fund was established by Tyler in 2015 to deliver assistance, protection, and therapy to female victims of violence. Since the organization’s inception, he has been responsible for raising more than $2.4 million for its cause. In 2017, Janie’s House, a residential shelter for abused women and children, opened its doors in Atlanta.
