The Cowgirl Tennis team (13-8 overall, 3-5 in MWC) closed out their Mountain West Conference season with a 6-1 victory over the Air Force Academy Falcons (16-10 overall, 2-6 in MWC) on Sunday in Laramie.

        In doubles action, Wyoming swept all three matches to take the first point of the day. Kim van Ginkel and Simona Synkova earned an 8-3 victory over Tahlia Smoke and Melissa Cecil. Rebecca Berger and Alexandra Kovacs defeated Christen Monreal and Anastasia Hueffner, 8-2. The Cowgirls wrapped up the point with Carly Van Hollen and Veronica Popovici claiming an 8-3 win over Hannah Dake and Sarah Cassman.

        The Cowgirls used that momentum to win five of six matches in singles play. Veronica Popovici defeated Christen Monreal, 6-1, 6-3, while Alexandra Kovacs won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6, over Tahlia Smoke. At the number three spot Kim van Ginkel won her match over Sarah Cassman, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Wyoming closed things out with Simona Synkova defeating  Hannah Dake, 6-1, 6-2, and Rebecca Berger against Megumi Voight, 6-0, 6-0. Berger is now the school’s all-time leader in wins with 68.
