Fans of Nicola Walker, you can rest certain that she will reprise her role as DI Annika Strandhed in the upcoming second season of Alibi’s Annika. Walker has appeared in several high-profile British television shows, including The Split and Unforgotten.

Walker said in a statement, “We are all looking forward to fighting crime on sea and land with the MHU for a second series.” Teasing future storylines, she added: “There are secrets closer to home for Annika that will have to be faced. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

For those who need a refresher, DI Annika Strandhed was introduced in Season 1 as the speedboat-driving leader of the Marine Homicide Unit (MHU), which investigates the horrific and mysterious murders that occur in the waterways of Scotland.

Has the Production Begin?

The crime drama created by Nicola Walker and titled Annika has been renewed for a second season. On Monday, August 8th, the production company behind the show, Alibi, tweeted out this image as production got underway.

Who Will Reprise Their Role in Season 2?

The drama that was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and was written by Nick Walker served as the inspiration for this series.

In the second season, Nicola Walker will reprise her role as Detective Inspector Annika Strandhed, Jamie Sives will play Detective Sergeant Michael McAndrews, Katie Leung will play Detective Constable Blair Ferguson, and Ukweli Roach will play Detective Sergeant Tyrone Clarke. In addition, Silvie Furneaux will be seen in her previous role as Morgan Strandhed, who is Annika Strandhed’s daughter.

What Will Be the Storyline of Annika Season 2?

The audience will be presented with six episodes that are each one hour long, just as they did the first time. An independent murder mystery will be presented to the MHU team to investigate each and every week.

Black Camel Pictures producer Arabella Page Croft said, “The new series will see Annika and her brilliant MHU uncover bodies in Edinburgh, Glasgow and as far as the Hebridean island of Jura, keeping in high literary company with the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson, George Orwell and Walter Scott to help solve the cases. Nick Walker is again at the helm, so this series promises more twisty crimes and grisly reveals while delving into our exciting serial hooks from the first series.”
