Season 5 of Fox’s ‘The Resident’ Will Premiere Earlier Than Expected. Find Out When to Tune in!

Every major American network is almost required to have a medical drama in its prime time lineup, and The Resident, which is currently in its fifth season, checks that box for Fox. Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi created The Resident, which premiered on Fox in the winter of 2018.

The Resident is one of only two returning scripted prime time programs for Fox this fall, alongside 911, though new series Our Kind of People and The Big Leap will also be added to the weekly lineup.

The Resident Season 5 Plot

The Resident follows a group of doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Conrad Hawkins, the titular resident. The plots center on the groups’ professional and medical challenges, as well as their personal lives. Season four was tasked with a lot of heavy lifting.

The first episode of season four depicted the early days of the pandemic for our main characters, after the show was forced to cut its third season short due to the pandemic. The marriage of Conrad and Nicolette, however, brought a happy moment to the start of the season.

Following that, Nicolette’s pregnancy and subsequent difficult pregnancy were a constant presence throughout the season, culminating in the birth of her and Conrad’s first child, a daughter.

While no details on the plot of season five have been released, we do have some hints as to the drama that will be unfolding thanks to Fox’s first promo for the show (see below) and some unexpected casting news.

Who Is in the Cast of the Resident?

Matt Czuchry as Conrad and Emily VanCamp as Nicolette have always been the Resident’s one-two punch. VanCamp, however, will no longer be a series regular, according to Deadline. VanCamp requested to be fired from the show at the end of season four, according to Deadline.

Her character’s story arc is expected to wrap up early in season five, though she may return as a guest star in future episodes. VanCamp is best known for playing Sharon Carter in MCU films and TV shows, in addition to The Resident.

The rest of The Resident’s cast is expected to return for season five. This includes the following:

The Resident Season 5 Premiere Date Has Been Set

Fox has not announced whether or when future seasons of The Resident will air as of November 7, 2021. The fifth season of ‘The Resident’ is set to premiere in late 2021 on Fox. The show is now available on Hulu for those who want to watch it online. The most recent episodes are available for viewing the day after they air.

You’ll need one of three things to watch The Resident live when it airs on Fox: a TV antenna, a traditional cable subscription, or a subscription to a vMVPD service that offers live local channels.

You’ll have to check your local listings for the first two, but vMVPD services that offer live Fox broadcasts include Fubo TV, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.
