An electrical engineering exchange student from Pakistan presented on the culture and tradition of Pakistan Wednesday in the Union Family Room. 

“The reason I did this presentation is because it is Pakistan Resolution day and it was my duty as being part an exchange student under Global UGRAD-Pakistan run by the International Research Exchange Board,” Ammad Ayub said. “I was sponsored by the Education Cultural Affairs under the US State department.”

Rising music star to perform at UW PDF Print E-mail

Nichole Berke, a singer/songwriter out of Oregon who has been critically compared to Stevie Wonder, Radiohead and Joni Mitchell, will give a concert beginning at 8 p.m. tonight in the Union Gardens. The Student Activities Council is hosting the event, and it is free to the public. 

“Nichole is truly a very gifted performer and musician and we are all very excited to be working with the University on this concert,” Denise Marsa, president of  KeyMedia Group and Public Relations, said. 

This will be Berke’s first time playing in Laramie as part of a national tour.

Greek Week commences, various activities planned PDF Print E-mail

The Greek community is kicking off its Greek Week by showing other students what Greek life really is about and what it means to be involved.

“Greek Week is something that a lot a people on campus really don’t hear about or know about,” Betsy Weeks, the panel-programming chair and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma said. “It’s another way to see what the Greek community does besides what they see at face value.”

As part of promoting the event, Weeks had a table set up in the Union and was giving away free soda.

Longstanding event brings together diverse group of students PDF Print E-mail

Students have the opportunity to enjoy a cup a coffee while getting to know fellow students. This is what International Coffee Hour is all about. 

Held from 4-6 p.m. every Friday in the basement of the union in the Gardens and Skylight lounge, students from all over the world are welcome to get to know each other. 

Organized by international students and supported by the International Students Association, the Scholar’s Office and ASUW, International Coffee Hour brings people together in a relaxed, friendly environment.

“International Coffee hour is a gathering of simply anybody who is interested to meet and interact with students and scholars from different countries represented at the University,” Vagaban Subedi, Events Coordinator for International Student Association, said.
