There are many treasures to be discovered in the Red Desert.

One of Wyoming’s true adventures, many of Laramie’s outdoor hiking and camping enthusiasts will most likely find the rich and beautiful Red Desert a location worth visiting.

The Biodiversity Conservation Alliance website describes the Red Desert as being a maze of thousand-foot cliffs and pinnacles that stretch for miles.

The hidden treasure of Adobe Town lies at the heart of this desert wonderland, which is 180,910 acres of wilderness, according to the BCA website.

Eric Malvor, executive director and wildlife biologist for the BCA, said Adobe Town offers some of the most intricate, wind-carved stone arches and pinnacles in Wyoming.

Adobe Town offers more than just natural beauty of the landscape formations; it is also home to one of the largest herds of wild horses in Wyoming, according to the BCA website.

Malvor said the Red Desert area offers many outdoor activities ranging from hiking, camping and even trophy antelope hunting. The BCA also offers free outings to the Red Desert and Adobe Town areas. Details and extra information on tours can be found

on the BCA website.

“Adobe Town is a hideaway for visitors looking to experience a last remnant of the Wild West,” according to the website.

Malvor said the Red Desert area and Adobe Town are only two of a handful of places a person can look horizon to horizon without seeing man’s imprint on the land and that the area is designated as very rare or uncommon by the Environment Equality Council.

With its wildlife, wind-carved stone pinnacles and arches and vast landscapes, the Red Desert area is well worth a look for

the outdoor enthusiast.
