Political Career of Raghav Chadha

Soon after he joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2012, he became the party’s treasurer.
In 2016, he also served as an adviser to Manish Sisodia, who was at the time the Finance Minister of Delhi.
In 2018, he was given the responsibility of overseeing South Delhi in preparation for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
He ran for election to the Lok Sabha in 2019 from the South Delhi parliamentary constituency, however he was unsuccessful and lost to the candidate nominated by the BJP, Ramesh Bidhuri.
In the Delhi Assembly Elections held in February 2020, he competed from the Rajinder Nagar constituency and was victorious. His opponent was RP Singh, who was running for the BJP.

Controversy Surrounding Him

In April of 2018, Raghav Chadha’s appointment as an advisor to Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, was retroactively cancelled by Rajnath Singh, who was the Union Minister of Home Affairs at the time. Raghav was one of the nine advisors whose appointments were cancelled as a result of the decision.

Mr. Chadha stated in a letter to the Ministry that he was assigned to the role on January 15, 2016, and would remain there until March 31, 2016, with the purpose of assisting Mr. Sisodia in the development of the 2016-17 Budget. He further stated that he had returned the sum of Rs. 2.50 that had been paid to him as his wage for the period of time that he served as Manish Sisodia’s advisor for 75 days.

In his statement, he stated, “I accept my retrospective sacking from the post I held for 75 days two years ago.”

He joined the Aam Aadmi Party when Aandolan ended and has been active with them ever since.
