Popular Indian television personality Sonali Phogat, who rose to fame after appearing on Big Boss 14, recently passed away from a heart attack in Goa. A prominent BJP figure in Haryana, the 41-year-old was a state official there. She gained fame not only for her TikTok videos, but also for the controversy that surrounded her.
Phogat and a few members of her crew went to Goa for a vacation. According to Jaspal Singh, the Director General of Police in Goa, the former actress was transported to St. Anthony Hospital after she reported feeling unwell at Curlies’ restaurant in Anjuna.

Sanjay Phogat, a prominent figure in the political community of Hisar, was Sonali’s husband. Her husband Sanjay passed away in 2016, and his body was discovered in the farmhouse where he had lived.
The BJP counted Sanjay Phogat as a member of its ranks. After the passing of her spouse, Sonali joined the BJP as well. The daughter of Sonali and Sanjay is ten years old and attends school in a boarding facility at the moment.
What Was the Reason of Her Death?
At the St. Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, Goa, Phogat was pronounced dead on August 23, 2022, after being transported there. The initial hypothesis put forth by the authorities was that she had passed away from a heart attack. After the postmortem report revealed that she had been injured by brutal force, the Goa Police Department quickly launched a murder case.
On August 25, the Goa Police Department made the arrests that led to the principal charges against Sudhir Sangvan and Sukhwinder Singh. The investigation into the murder of Sonali Phogat was given a new angle when the police disclosed that a BJP politician had been poisoned, which may have contributed to her passing.
Controversies Surrounding Her
Phogat, a popular figure on the video-sharing platform TikTok, challenged the incumbent Congress candidate, Kuldeep Bishnoi, in the 2019 election for the Adampur Assembly.
She found herself in the middle of a storm of controversy after she allegedly made a hate remark during her election campaign in the village of Balasmand in the Adampur seat. After receiving backlash for a comment in which she encouraged people to sing “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and claimed that those who did not were Pakistanis, she issued an apology. Bishnoi won the vote, and Phogat lost.
Another controversy surrounded her after a video of her beating a police officer with her slippers went viral online. The event took place on June 5, 2020, when she presented a list of farmer complaints to the officer.

According to a report by Aaj Tak, one of the accused in the murder of the Tiktok star, Sangwan, confessed to the Goa Police that Phogat had ordered MDMA and that her health had deteriorated following an overdose.
After Sangwan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Phogat all landed in Goa on August 22, Phogat reportedly approached Sangwan for some MDMA that afternoon. “I, Sonali Phogat, and our friend Sukhwinder Singh came to Goa on 22nd August to stay at Grand Leoni Resort in Anjuna, North Goa. Checked into the hotel room around 2:30 in the afternoon. Around 4:30 pm Sonali Phogat asked Sukhwinder Singh to get MDMA drugs. All three of us had a desire to get high using MDMA drugs,” he said as per the report.
After that, according to Sangwan, Singh returned in the evening and demanded Rs 12,000. He wanted to use the money to buy four grammes of MDMA. T “He will get the MDMA drug from the room boy of Hotel Grand Leoni. I gave him 5,000 in cash and told him to give Rs 7,000 on his behalf. After that around 9 o’clock, Sukhwinder came with drugs. After this, all three of us [snorted] MDMA,” According to the report, he said.
