Is Season 3 of the Alienist Scheduled to Air This Winter?
TNT’s The Alienist had the makings of a multi-season hit with a strong cast and a seemingly never-ending to-do list of grisly cases to investigate. Psychiatrist Laszlo Kreizler worked with illustrator John Moore and Dakota Fanning’s ambitious NYPD secretary, Sara Howard, to solve gruesome murders in this series.
An enthusiastic audience welcomed this gritty thriller, and many reviewers lauded its use of universal themes to create a captivating storey. Second wave of interest came after it was made available on Netflix in additional nations. However, the ending of The Alienist: Angel of Darkness surprised many viewers.

Storyline of Alienist
The first season takes place in 1896, during which time New York City is seized by a spate of grisly killings of young prostitutes. Psychiatrist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and newspaper cartoonist John Moore are brought in as special consultants by newly appointed police commissioner Teddy Roosevelt. Marcus and Lucius Isaacson, detective sergeants in the New York City Police Department, join Sara Howard, Roosevelt’s secretary, in the investigation.
Captain Connor and recently retired Chief Byrnes, both are more concerned with protecting the reputations of New York’s high society than identifying the perpetrators of the atrocities; and from the working poor and lower class citizens, who distrust them for being outsiders.
Sara’s detective agency is now open in the second season, which picks up a year later. She joins forces with Kreizler and Moore, a reporter for the New York Times, to track down the consul’s abducted infant daughter. Investigations into institutional corruption, income disparity and the position of women in 1890s society lead them to another elusive killer.
Release Date of Alienist Season 3
It has been a long time since the end of TNT’s eight-episode run of The Alienist: Angel of Darkness, which will end with a dramatic finale on August 9, 2020. To date, there has been no indication on whether or not The Alienist would return for a third season, as promised by the network. In most cases, when a show becomes popular enough to justify a second season, networks are keen to maintain the pace.
As the film and television industries have had a terrible year, it’s probable that TNT could delay announcing the third season of The Alienist until things are back to normal. Even though it hasn’t been cleared for a go-ahead, take hope from the fact that it hasn’t been cancelled yet! In any case, even if The Alienist season 3 goes into production soon, the show will seek to have a release date of 2022.
