This last week Terrell Owens was the latest athlete to admit that he is going broke. This is the same Owens that has played 12 NFL seasons, had three TV shows, and made millions in endorsements. And now he is broke?
Has he no responsibility? This is ironic because it is for that reason—responsibility—he can no longer find a job to play in the NFL. They know he is a childish, irresponsible adult who cares for himself, and only himself. Don’t get me wrong, I think Owens is one of the best receivers to play the game, but I am not going to feel sorry for a person that has dug his own grave and has been able to blow hundreds of millions of dollars.
A lot of it is credited to the lawsuits against him from mothers of his children. You are telling me with all those millions of dollars he could not afford condoms? You could afford to buy 52,631 condoms with $1 million, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than four child support lawsuits. If Owens is that desperate but he does not want to buy 75-cent protection then go to public health where they are free.
Owens is just added onto the list of deadbeat, washed up athletes who are irresponsible.
Boxing great Mike Tyson filed for divorce a while back. The same Mike Tyson who was worth $500 million dollars in his peak days. Apparently he struggles with financial management as much as he does with the letter ‘S’.
It is not too surprising to find out he was dumb with his money, just look at his face. A tribal tattoo on your face? Really? That is equally as dumb as changing your name to Meta World Peace. Tyson had been known to have a drug and alcohol problem, so what did he do? The only logical option—he moved to Las Vegas! What could possibly go wrong? Only him turning his net worth from $500 million to $700.
It very well could be possible for my pinky finger to have a higher IQ then Tyson’s brain.
Lattrell Sprewell is the biggest idiot of them all. He chose to retire from the NBA rather than sign a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves worth $21 million in three years. He said the contract was too low and said he had a family to feed. Within three years he had his yacht and two houses repossessed, and had another house repossessed a couple years ago. I laugh at this. What a pathetic human being.
So go ahead professional athletes. Party it up, live your life because you are successful. But do not expect sympathy when you right back down with the rest of us.
But what do I know. That is just my unprofessional opinion. I’m out.
