Cowgirl freshman Kayla Woodward takes a shot in a past game. Tomorrow the Cowgirls travel to San Diego to play the Aztecs of San Diego State at 8:30 p.m.
The loss came despite freshman Kayla Woodward having yet another big game for the Cowgirls, scoring 23 points. Woodward, named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week on Monday, scored seven straight points for the Cowgirls in the first half at a crucial time when the game looked as if CSU was going to run away. UW entered the intermission down two points.
The two teams battled back and forth to the end of the game. With seconds left on the clock the Cowgirls were down two when freshman Kaitlyn Mileto drove into the lane and had her pass tipped and stolen. The Rams would go on to make two free throws to finish the game with a score of 62–58.
The Cowgirls struggled from the free-throw line down the stretch, making only 1–6 from the line. Woodward finished the game with 23 points and six rebounds while Chaundra Sewell finished with 10 points with seven rebounds.
The Cowgirls are back on the road again as they travel to San Diego to take on the Aztecs of San Diego State University tonight. The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and can be seen on The Mountain Sports Network.
