Manga Author Confirms That Production of Vinland Saga 2 Is Underway!

Fans of ‘Vinland Saga’ are still waiting for the second season of the historical anime series after almost a year of teasing.

As of 2019, there is enough material for a second season of the anime adaptation of Makoto Yukimura’s manga. The account of Icelandic adventurer Thorfinn Karlsefni is told in the Viking Age epic ‘Vinland Saga.’ A mercenary group led by Askeladd ambushed and assassinated his father, the famed ex-warrior Thors, killing him in the process.

As the first season came to a close, fans were left with a range of emotions. Is the anime going to continue? What we do know is summarised below.

Storyline of Vinland Saga

Incorporating Norse mythology and historical adventure, Vinland Saga is an excellent animation series. Thorfinn is the protagonist of this anime series.

The plot revolves around Thorfinn, a little boy who grew up hearing tales of old seafarers who had made it to Vinland, the legendary land of the Vikings. It’s rumoured to be a place where there is no need for conflict because it is warm and fertile.

With his father’s killer, Thorfinn sets out to avenge his father’s death and end his own life as a noble warrior to pay honour to him.

 A young Thorfinn, who had previously been enchanted by the supposedly greatness of war and honour, swiftly changed when he was forced to survive on his own, and then with the man he had vowed to murder.

Release Date of Vinland Saga Season 2

Shuhei Yabuta, the anime director, appears to have intimated that the second season was already in the works even before the announcement of the second season.

The director of ‘Vinland Saga’ posted a graphic of the three major characters back in September of 2020. The second season has been confirmed, although there is no release date yet.

NHK General TV in Japan showed the first anime from July 7 to December 29, 2019. Since production has already begun, we can conclude that the anime has been discreetly renewed for 2020. Author Makoto Yukimura announced the existence of season 2 of the animated series.

In 2022, a new season could be on the way.
