Columnist believes Obama’s presidency fails to address US problems

President Obama has a dirty little secret that he is doing his best to keep the American people from discovering. No, I am not referring to the president’s birthplace or his seedy Chicago associates, but rather his record.

Do you recall when in 2008 then Sen. Obama was trumpeting from Berlin to California about the hope and change that the world could soon look forward to? Four years later, America has been left with little more than failed pipe dreams, broken promises and empty liberal rhetoric.

As you surely recall, while the U.S. economy was tanking, President Obama felt it best to kick off his presidency with a global apology tour. Apparently, the America you and I love is little more than an arrogant, imperfect, dictatorial, fallen, misguided, marred and immoral nation.

What was to be the president’s signature initiative is now an embarrassment to the administration.  Healthcare was not even mentioned in Obama’s last State of the Union address and the U.S. Supreme Court is deciding whether it is even constitutional. The promised deficit neutrality of the healthcare overhaul has been debunked to the tune of $500 billion and a recent poll had 56 percent of Americans favoring repeal of the measure.

The economy is another failing of the administration. Unemployment stands higher than President Obama promised it would ever get if Congress permitted him to spend his way out of the recession.

When Obama entered office, gas cost approximately $1.84 per gallon. Today, a gallon of gas costs an average of $3.92. This cost at the pump would not be so horrific if we just all were able to buy a Volt from “Government Motors;” unfortunately, with underemployment at 19 percent and spending on welfare up 41 percent since Obama took office, this is less than realistic.

Abroad, the president’s actions have pushed away our allies and emboldened our enemies. When Iranian dissenters were ready to overthrow their Islamic tyrants and seek democracy, the president turned his back. But when the Muslim Brotherhood began spreading anarchy throughout Egypt, the administration was in full support.

When Iran tried to seize sensitive drone technology, Obama made no attempt to keep it from them.

I guess negotiating with terrorists and closing Guantanamo Bay did not pan out. Of course, there is always hope for the next four years. As the president himself tried to secretly convey to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, he will have “more flexibility” following the 2012 election.

In other words, once he wins his last election by once more hoodwinking his liberal drones, he can act without worry about future electoral reprimand.

If Republicans had a record half as full of disappointments and failures as this president, we might also attempt to evade our record at every turn.
