UW Freshman Senate open for applications

The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming is open to Freshman Senate applications and has introduced three new senators this semester.

For freshmen who are interested in becoming a senator for ASUW, the application deadline is Friday, Jan. 27. According to the ASUW website, the Freshman Senate is geared toward first-year students who want to become acquainted with how the senate operates.

The application can be found online at www.uwyo.edu/asuw/programs/freshman-senate.

There is currently one vacancy in the ASUW Senate College of Engineering position, which students can apply for at the ASUW office in the lower level of the Union. Students can run for ASUW President or for a senator position in the spring 2012 election. The application for running will appear online Feb. 8 at www.uwyo.edu/asuw/elections.

ASUW also has three new senators, two from the College of Arts and Sciences, Joe Backstrom and Jordan Kaul, and one from the College of Business, James Dougherty.
