The “I’m prepared in Wyoming Promotion” is a component of National Preparedness Month, which is held each September.
The online promotion is open to Wyoming residents. Once a tip is submitted or a video is watched and commented on the individual is entered to win one of more than 90 preparedness prizes.
The program is the first of its kind in Wyoming and is a unique and exciting way to spread the preparedness message, according to Guy Cameron, director, Wyoming Office of Homeland Security.
The promotion will be active Sept. 1–30 and can be accessed at http://wyohomelandsecurity.state.wy.us/npm/index.html
Albany County is the primary “first-provider” of Laramie’s emergency response services, according to Homeland Security. If the event causes extraordinary work for the protection of lives and property, local government, through the local county coordinator, activates their Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and their Emergency Event Plan. This allows the coordination of the response with public/private organizations and agencies to alleviate or eliminate problems that occur.
The University of Wyoming has its own disaster preparedness plan, which can be viewed at http://www.uwyo.edu/administration/_files/docs/EmergencyResponsePlan20110519.pdf
