The University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra season is just around the corner and season tickets are now available.
Dr.Michael Griffith, director of orchestral activities, will be conducting again this season and music for this year’s performances will reflect different aspects of his travels around Europe.
The Symphony Orchestra will perform five concerts this year.
The Holiday Concerts, on Dec. 6 and 7 are just some of the performances. After the performance on the Dec. 7th, there will be a Symphony Associations Gala Holiday Dinner. Tickets for the fundraising dinner will be $40 per person and proceeds will go to support the orchestra’s scholarship fund.
The Dorothy Jacoby Student Soloist competition will take place on March 5th.
“We’ll spend one day in December auditioning students from the music program who want to perform during the concert. There will be a panel of judges who will choose four or five people to perform and then another panel of judges at the concert to choose a winner,” Griffith said. The winning performer will receive a cash prize.
Season tickets for all 5 concerts can be purchased by phone, at 766-6666, or at the Fine Arts Ticket Office in the Fine Arts Building. Tickets cost $24 for students, $28 for seniors, and $40 for the general public.
