‘Whose Line’ comics perform UW debut

Get ready for a different kind of stand-up comedy with improv stars Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood as they take the stage at the University of Wyoming. On March 7, UW is hosting “An Evening with Brad Sherwood and Colin Mochrie,” during which the two comedians will perform a variety of different skits. The show will be held in the Arts and Sciences Auditorium. The action will begin at 8 p.m. and the doors will open at 7 p.m.

Mochrie and Sherwood have been seen on the popular television show and Emmy nominated “Whose Line is it Anyway?” The show mainly consisted of improvisation skits, in which the actors were given a scenario and had to make-up a skit on the spot. Much of what their UW performance will consist of will be similar to what was seen on the show.

But for those coming to watch, don’t expect to just be spectators because Mochrie and Sherwood often bring audience members onstage to take part in the show, according to the duo’s Web site, www.colinandbradshow.com.

“It’s a really great comedy show for a really great price,” Jeniece Tygesen, the chair for concerts and convocations, said. “When we heard the offer it seemed like a great show to bring to UW, since so many people used to watch ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’”

According to Tygesen, tickets for the show are going fast and seats for the show are reserved, so those interested in attending should hurry to buy their tickets. The price for the show is $10 for UW students and $15 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased at either the Wyoming Union Information Desk or the Fine Arts Box Office.

Sherwood and Mochrie are just a few of the many comedians to perform at UW. Each semester, the university tries to bring a comedy show to campus. In the fall of 2007, comedian Nick Swardson performed to a sold-out show on campus. Jay and Silent Bob, Jimmy Fallon and Christian Finnegan have also come to UW.
