Candidates for political positions full of irony

I love irony. I love the fact that so many people are going to be furious. I love how nothing is expected, and sooner or later, everyone gets disappointed. It’s a bit dark, I know, but come the day Obama is sworn into office, I will lay my head back and laugh.

If you haven’t heard the good news, then let me impart a little wisdom upon thee. Apparently, there are “rumors” of the president-elect considering placing all his old nemeses into office, in one place or another. Both Clintons plus McCain are candidates for some position, at least according to the blabbering reporters and their “theories.”

Now, why does this make me happy? Because of all the smug Obama supporters who now have to look over their shoulders to see, that’s right, McCain sitting next to Obama for the next four years. I so hope that these rumors are true, just for that simple fact.

If you’ve kept up with my columns, you know I support neither McCain nor Obama. In fact, I find both of them extremely lacking. But what I find really upsetting is people 100 percent supporting one or another: people with no doubts as to the grandeur of their own personal messiah.

It’s the knowledge that if McCain gains a position in Obama’s cabinet, all the liberal Democrats who’ve been celebrating for the past week over the victory of Obama, will crash and burn when they discover that the very person they’ve come to hate is now one of the right-hand men of their glorious leader.

I know, I’m sick to get such pleasure off of people’s pain, but I can’t help mocking those who believe that their path is all glorious and unblemished by falsehoods. However, I myself could do without either of the Clintons in the office, I think that those two had their time in the sun, and now they need to give up their little limelight to someone else.

Looking past what amuses me, I have to say that I’m impressed by Obama’s move. President Lincoln – the one who made the little logs – did a very similar thing. Upon election, he selected many of his previous opponents for his cabinet, and look what he accomplished.

I’m a strong supporter of keeping your enemies close. Not so you can keep an eye on them, but so that you have people who aren’t afraid to disagree with you.

The president doesn’t affect everything, like so many people believe. It’s the people that he keeps close and supports that have a lot of say in this country. Granted, he can veto decisions and throw a couple out there, but when it comes down to it, he’s just the big kid that gets to choose the kids for his kickball team.

I’m all giddy with excitement. This disaster of an election year is quickly turning into a marvelous game of “confuse the dumb citizens”… my favorite.
