Ever want to show off your improv comedy skills, or just want to have a good laugh? At 8 tonight, the Student Activities Council will host University of Wyoming Stands Up in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Contestants will compete for cash prizes.

“It’s a great time to come and watch, whether or not you’re competing, and there’s always someone unexpected who places and that’s the best part—never knowing what you’re going to see or hear each year,” Jason Joyce, lead programmer of the SAC, said.

The comedians were pre-selected through open auditions. Joyce said the competition was open to any interested student. The top three places will be chosen by three administrative judges. The first-place winner will receive $150, second place will get $75 and the third-place winner will leave with $50.

Past shows have been said to be hysterical with edgy, intelligent humor.

The shows in the past were “always a blast and there are some standouts who you can tell have prepared and practiced and then there are the people watching in the audience who say I can do better than this and get up there and win.

“There isn’t any content censorship or anything like that, it’s simply whether or not you can impress the judges,” Joyce said.
