Two local bands, RatTrapper and John Kirlin and the High Plains Drifters, played sets on Thursday night in the Union Gardens. Last night’s show brought a mix of folk/Americana and a jug band style.
Studio Wyo is the program that brought these two local bands to the Gardens, and they plan to bring different local bands every Thursday. Their mission is to “provide local bands a venue at the University and increase traffic in the Union,” Andrew Hays, ASTEC Coordinator, said. “Its great to see local boys out playing. It’s a nice little niche, and its an opportunity to get out and have a good time,” Logan Maclean, a student, said. Those in the crowd weren’t the only ones having a good time at the show last night. Chris Koch, guitarist for RatTrapper, said, “RatTrapper is more of a concept than it is an entity or a band. It’s just a bunch of guys that like to get together and have fun.” Email the author: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it |
