This Saturday, the UW Faculty Recital Series continues with a performance of instrumental duos, in Brazilian
Rubia Santos, a native Brazilian and UW faculty member will perform with eight other faculty members in this concert entitled Brazilian Chamber Musical Gems, Instrumental Duos. The program will include 14 works from the 19th and 20th centuries. “Brazilian composers have always favored the tradition of indigenous folk and urban musical elements in their compositions,” Santos said in a press release. The concert will include songs and different forms of dance including modinha, choro, tango, waltz, polka, batuque, samba, baião, and frevo. Santos will also perform works in a traditional European style that had an influence on Brazilian composers in the late 19th century.
