“When the moon hits your eye, like a big-a pizza pie, that’s amore.” This classic tune by Dean Martin brings to mind a variety of images, among them fine Italian cuisine. This month, Laramie Main Street is featuring Luciano’s Italian Restaurant for its “Taste of the Town” event. “Luciano’s opened last December and has strived to offer quality food in an inviting atmosphere,” Trey Sherwood, Laramie Main Street director said. “They have updated their menu and extended their hours to include a full-service brunch on Sundays.” The Taste of the Town program began in June of 2010, featuring locally owned restaurants in the historic district of downtown Laramie. “We have seen great response from our volunteers and board members who have attended every event, but hope to draw more support from the University of Wyoming, LCCC and WyoTech students,” Sherwood said. “We hope Taste [of the Town] gives residents an excuse to eat out and try new or forgotten favorites.” Luciano’s menu specialties include handcrafted desserts made daily by culinary artist Steve Drietz. Their menu features traditional Italian meals like lasagna, spaghetti with hand-rolled meatballs and chicken with eggplant parmesan. The restaurant also has house pastas including manicotti, gnocchi carbonera, fettuccini alfredo. One house special is “The Don,” an Italian-style pepper steak and pesto pork. The Lucianos’ culinary team includes Chef Christopher “Stone” Kidner and Drietz, under the management of Eileen Obssuth, who is also the owner of the restaurant. The restaurant recently made some corrections in staffing and training, and Obssuth said with these changes Luciano’s will be “the place to go for great food and a pleasant atmosphere.” The event goes from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight and 10 percent of the profits will be donated to Laramie Main Street. Luciano’s is located on the corner of First Street and the 100 block of Ivinson Avenue.
