Ryan Edwards, Star of “Teen Mom,” Loses Custody After Missing Court Date

The popular teen mom Ryan Edwards is battling his divorced wife Mackenzie Standifer for primary custody of their two children, but things aren’t going well for him as of right now. This is because he missed their planned court date.

Ryan filed a “Motion to Adopt a Temporary Parenting Plan” last month, claiming that Mackenzie had stopped letting their kids visit him at his mother’s house. This was supposedly their agreement since they broke up the previous year.

According to his move, “Mother has recently refused to allow Father to exercise any parenting time with the minor children.” “It is not best for the kids to do this.”

Ryan’s Lawyer Supposedly Provided Him Wrong Information

His new motion was the subject of the recent hearing; the kids’ permanent custody would be decided at a later date. September has been designated as the final court date for both the divorce and the custody agreement.

Ryan did not show up for the court, a source revealed to The Ashley. However, he seemed to show that his attorney had misinformed him that he wasn’t needed for this particular session. After the hearing, he apparently sacked his lawyer.

The insider stated that Mackenzie and her legal representative, as well as Ryan’s attorney, were present during the hearing on Monday. But without Ryan, the procedures could not go forward, therefore the hearing was delayed for the end of July. As a result, since no court order has been made, Mackenzie is not now required to change the current arrangements surrounding Ryan’s visitation with the children.

Mackenzie is Keeping Custody of Her Full-time

The kids have lived with Mackenzie full-time since early 2023, when Mackenzie filed for divorce and a temporary restraining order following Ryan’s alleged assault. Since their split, she has been granted full custody; however, as the former couple works through their divorce, this could change.

Despite their turbulent past, Ryan appears to get along better as co-parents with his ex-Maci Bookout, even if Mackenzie and Ryan are still at odds over custody. She has even posted pictures of the two of them hanging out with their 2008-born adolescent son.

The tumultuous relationship between the ex-couple came to an end in 2010, but not before they became well-known thanks to the TV series 16 and Pregnant, which chronicled their drama and custody disputes. Though she still supports Ryan’s engagement in Bentley’s life, Maci has repeatedly voiced concerns about his behavior (which includes legal troubles and substance misuse) and its possible detrimental repercussions on their kid.

Ryan has experienced several difficulties over the years. His substance misuse problems came to light after he was jailed for possessing heroin in 2017. In 2018 and 2019, there were multiple probation violations that came after this. The legal issues didn’t stop there; in March 2021, Ryan was taken into custody once more on suspicion of violating his probation and possessing a controlled substance.

Ryan, who is renowned for maintaining a low profile on social media, has not spoken about his most recent custody hearing—or lack thereof—with Mackenzie.
