What is the Last of Us Season 2 Release Date? Know Everything!
The Last of Us Season 2 could premiere on HBO in the fall, as Bella Ramsey recently announced.
The first season of HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama was a smashing hit, thanks to its faithful adaptation of the critically acclaimed PlayStation game by Naughty Dog. Almost immediately, a second season was approved to follow the storyline of the sequel video game, The Last of Us Part II.
Despite the time jump, Bella Ramsey will reprise her role as Ellie for the upcoming second season, as confirmed by the show’s creator, Craig Mazin. However, like with the first season, Mazin has cautioned that the show’s events may be “quite different” from the game.
The question now is when the second season of The Last of Us will be released.
About “The Last of Us” Series
American post-apocalyptic drama series The Last of Us is the brainchild of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and airs on HBO. Set in 2023, twenty years after a pandemic caused by a widespread fungal infection has transformed humans into zombie-like creatures and collapsed society, the series is based on the 2013 video game produced by Naughty Dog. In the series, smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal) is tasked with escorting Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenager, across a post-apocalyptic America.
In addition to the regular cast members, we have guest appearances from Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, Anna Torv as Joel’s partner Tess, Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy, Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Montreal Woodard as brothers Henry and Sam, Melanie Lynskey and Jeffrey Pierce as resistance leader Kathleen and her second-in-command Perry, and so on.
“The Last of Us” Season 2: When Can We Expect It?
Exciting news! The return of the sitcom for a second season on HBO Max was confirmed on January 27 through Twitter.
There was an immediate outpouring of excitement from fans upon hearing the announcement, with one writing, “As someone who neither enjoys video games nor zombies I am loving the first season so far.” When will the next season premiere? Not soon enough for the vast majority, unfortunately. Plans, though, appear to be well underway.

Pascal said, “Yeah, there is a chance, sure,” when asked if production on new episodes may start in 2023, hinting that filming for Season Two could begin as soon as this year.
While we don’t yet know when the new season will premiere, given that filming won’t begin until late 2023 (if at all), we can presumably look forward to it in 2024 or 2025 at the earliest. Ellie is 14 in Part I (Ramsey is 19) and will be 19 when Part II picks up the story, thus the five-year gap between the video games isn’t a huge deviation from the plot.
Who Will Be in the Last of Us Season 2?
Even though Ellie has matured considerably in The Last of Us Part II, she may be recast with an actress who has a more mature appearance if Bella Ramsey isn’t brought back to play the role. In Part II, Ramsey, who played a 14-year-old in season 1, will be the same age as Ellie, 19.
Ellie in Part II is taller, stronger, and more jaded than she was in the first install recognize Abby, who gamers will recognize from the sequel, has not yet been cast, though.
The Last of Us Plot: What Would It Be Able to Be About?
The Last of Us has been played by millions of people for a decade, and it has won countless awards for its innovative gameplay, compelling story, and stunning visuals. The act of seeing such a wonderful piece of cinematic art is, therefore, a labor of love.
Like the video game, this series will follow Joel, a resident of Boston’s quarantine zone who is tasked with delivering Ellie, a girl who has developed immunity to the virus that turns humans into zombies, to the Fireflies.
To accomplish this, they will have to search the entire country for firefly members while fighting against both infected and uninfected people. Can he finish the job, or is there a twist I don’t know about? What happens next? I guess we’ll have to watch the show.
When Will the Trailer for Season 2 of the Last of Us Be Available Online?
As of March 2023, work on The Last of Us Season 2 has not begun, so there will be no fresh gameplay footage available for the teaser.
What Are the Ratings for the Show?
There is no need to wait if you’re curious about the show’s quality; it’s excellent. The show has a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is equivalent to an IMDb score of 9.2/10. Thus, this performance is a must. Those who are on the fence about watching it should think about what others have stated.
Conclusion
“The Last of Us Season 2, based on the hit PlayStation game, is set to premiere on HBO in the fall with Bella Ramsey returning as Ellie. Part II’s development included 12-hour workdays and COVID-19 delays.
