Since the release of the new episodes on February 23rd, fans of Outer Banks have been buzzing about the show’s third season. Nothing beats watching the Pogues repeatedly risk death in pursuit of El Dorado and the fabled city of gold.

Of course, the Pogues have several thorns in their side aiming to tear them down, including Ward and Carlos Singh. Sarah’s nasty older brother, Rafe, is one of these thorns once again.

Season 3 of Outer Banks began with Rafe seeming like he would be an ally (he and Kie were in that disaster together!), but he ultimately revealed his true Kook colors. Still, what exactly happens to Rafe by the season’s end, and what’s in store for him in Season 4?

What Happened to Rafe in Outer Banks Season 3?

Rafe has much to do throughout the third season of Outer Banks. To depose Ward as King Kook, he robbed a tourist, ordered a hit on his father, melted the Cross of Santo Domingo, and went as broke as he could. Rafe also had an affair with Sofia when he wasn’t busy with all of that other stuff.

In the final episode of Outer Banks’ third season, Rafe has second thoughts about killing Ward and stops the assassin. It’s during this fight that Ward gets hurt and a random bystander realizes he’s back in town because he saw him last. For his flight with the Pogues, Rafe has Ward hurry to the airport. When the cops arrive at the airstrip, the plane lifts off.

Upon his graduation, Drew followed his passion for performing and entered the business. Besides “Outer Banks,” some of his other well-known works are “Love, Simon” and “The Hate U Give.”

Will Rafe Be in Outer Banks Season 4?

At least we won’t have to say goodbye to Rafe just yet. As Drew Starkey was there when the renewal for Season 4 of Outer Banks was announced at the Poguelandia fan convention, he will undoubtedly return as Rafe. A further benefit is that Rafe survived the third season.

As Rafe didn’t stick around for the 18-month time leap or the season 3 finale, we have no idea what he’s been up to since leaving the airstrip. Is he in jail now? How did he find out about Ward’s passing? Is Sarah aware of his interest in her? Had he abandoned his drive for revenge and power?

Rafe’s future on Outer Banks is uncertain, but only time will tell. It’s only on Netflix, so binge all three seasons while you wait for season four.
