In April of 2021, on the second season of Love Is Blind, unseen contestants Iyanna and Jarrette entered the pods and immediately fell in love.

They had been talking for over a week in the pods before finally seeing each other in person and eventually getting engaged. Together, they were hilarious, bringing out the best in each other.

In June of 2021, after Iyanna and Jarrette had returned from their honeymoon and settled into married life in Chicago, they exchanged wedding vows. The two maintained their Instagram love fest with each other. They were able to relive their love story, along with some awkward moments, when season 2 of Love Is Blind premiered in February 2022.

Many viewers of Love Is Blind were crushed to learn that their favorite couples from Season 2 had all ended their relationships. Fans were startled by the announcement, but it appears the split was amicable.

Mallory Zapata was initially Jarrette’s top pick, but she ultimately chose Salvador Perez’s proposal over his. Despite being initially hurt, Jarrette eventually asked Iyanna out, and she happily accepted. But when Jarrette and Mallory eventually met in person on the honeymoon vacation, sparks were obvious between them.

Iyanna and Salvador both felt betrayed by their partners’ obvious feelings for each other. The two continued to spend time together before making any final decisions about marriage. In the season finale, Salvador derecognized marrying Mallory since he recognized she wasn’t the one. Both Iyanna and Jarrette decided to go through with the wedding and they finally did so.

Nonetheless, Iyanna and Jarrette issued a joint statement last week announcing their divorce after being married for nearly a year. After releasing the statement, Iyanna took to Twitter to address fans’ speculation regarding the breakup. Iyanna told a fan who blamed Jarrette for the breakup, “We tried our best.”

Another supporter questioned the validity of the marriage experiment and the possibility of romantic attachment between persons who have never met in person. However, Iyanna insisted that “depending on the people,” the experiment is successful.

She went on to say that “marriage is more than love and sadly we were incompatible on everything else,” which led to their separation and eventual divorce. An Iyanna supporter had remarked on how “happy” she and Jarrette appeared to be with each other, and the singer had reacted. She admitted, “We were, but our lives are moving in such separate directions.”
