When Will Queen Charlotte Be Released on Netflix?

The weekend wrapped off Netflix’s global, virtual fan event, when among other things, a prequel to their hit series Bridgerton was announced.

In Queen Charlotte, eight close-knit siblings from the powerful Bridgerton family seek love during the Regency period in England, predating the events of the first series of the historical-romance based on the novels of Julia Quinn. Showrunner, executive producer, and writer Betsy Beers is joined by director and executive producer Tom Verica and writer Shonda Rhimes.

The cast of the third season of the Netflix show has been talking about what they may expect from the Lady Whistledown chronicle of the season, so the announcement of the prequel in the realm of the Bridgerton-verse comes as no surprise.

What is the Storyline of the Show?

The premise of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Narrative is that it is an origin story that centres on the young Charlotte’s engagement to King George III. According to Tudum, Netflix’s official news website, Charlotte is betrothed to the King against her will, and she does not make a good first impression when she arrives in England.

Nonetheless, they do get married, and their union eventually heralds a societal shift in the tonne that sees people of colour (such as Lady Danbury) rise to become influential figures in British high society.

Tudum calls the romance between Queen Charlotte and King George III a “wonderful love story,” which suggests that, despite her early disinterest in him, the monarch and his wife finally grew to love one another and had a successful marriage.

After seeing how the King and Queen’s relationship has crumbled owing to the latter’s mental illness, it will be nice to witness the monarch when she was young and in love and living the kind of fairytale existence she now hopes for young debutantes in Season 3 of Bridgerton.

The Queen’s amorous history may play a role in shaping her into the ardent and even obsessed matchmaker she is today, and this may be explored in the next prequel. In addition, Queen Charlotte will go into the backstories of Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton to see how they were able to develop such a strong bond with her.

“A limited prequel series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte, that will center on the rise and love life of a young Charlotte. The spinoff will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury”.

Will There Be a Book Adaptation of Queen Charlotte?

If you have enjoyed reading the novels written by Julia Quinn Bridgerton, then you should get ready for the next one. There are perhaps ten books in Quinn’s novel series, but none of them chronicle the story of King George III or Queen Charlotte.

It has been decided that executive producer Shonda Rhimes will collaborate with Quinn on the writing of a novel based on the prequel, and both will be published at the same time. This will allow for a more in-depth exploration of the royal love story.
