The White Lotus Season 2 Release Date: Will They Move to a New Location?

The White Lotus Season 2 Release Date

Wealthy, ungrateful people can be heard griping about every aspect of their extravagant resort holiday if you listen closely enough. More importantly, millions of spectators may be heard laughing at their expense as they rewatch “The White Lotus,” Mike White’s satirical drama.

You must remember this show about a wealthy family on vacation at an elite resort, where dramatic and implausible things keep happening. For those who may have forgotten, the first season of “The White Lotus” was set in an all-inclusive Hawaiian resort where affluent tourists hoped to unwind in paradise.

“The White Lotus” swiftly gained critical acclaim and a lot of online talk since truly awful people like to entertain. And so, here we are: once again on the cusp of returning to a White Lotus resort for more mayhem than ever before.

The White Lotus Season 2: Release Date

After considerable anticipation, the second season of “The White Lotus” will finally premiere in October 2022, according to a report from Variety. New episodes should premiere on HBO every week if the second season follows the same release pattern as the first.

The series will also be available to stream simultaneously on HBO Max, assuming that this summer doesn’t end with HBO setting fire to its streaming service servers.

Season one’s conclusion of “The White Lotus” attracted 1.9 million viewers, making it an instant smash with audiences. Recent Emmy nominations, a promising second season, and other developments have only served to increase anticipation for this show’s premiere.

In total, the first season received a stunning 20 nominations for the ’22 Emmys, including outstanding limited series and writing and directing awards for series creator Mike White. With even a handful of statuettes from the ceremony on September 12, the second season launch in October stands to gain a lot of attention.

Who Will Return in the White Lotus Season 2?

Tanya, played by the always stunning Jennifer Coolidge, will return as a guest star opposite Greg, played by Jon Gries. Tanya is known for her love of champagne and massages. However, given that this is an anthology series, that seems to be the extent of any reference to Season 1.

Theo James and Meghann Fahy have signed on to play a vacationing couple. Aubrey Plaza is set to portray a character named Harper, and Will Sharpe will play her husband. More intriguing is the choice of Leo Woodall, a relative unknown, to play Jack, the resort’s “mystery guest.”

Michael Imperioli plays Dominic DiGrasso, who is visiting his father Bert and son Albie. Haley Lu Richardson, who starred in After Yang, will play Portia, a young businesswoman on vacation with her employer, played by Tanya. Tom Hollander plays Quentin, an English ex-pat who is visiting the resort with his nephew.

However, showrunner Mike White has teased the possibility of future appearances by a wider cast from the world of The White Lotus. In October, he speculated to TV Line, “Maybe it could be a Marvel universe type thing, where some of them will come back.” Who knows? Maybe Sydney Sweeney, who plays the carefree icon Olivia on Euphoria, will actually return.

But the question is, will Paula (Brittany O’Grady) accompany her? There appears to be a new group of closest friends among the millennial generation Z. Beatrice Grann and Simona Tabasco, two newcomers to TWL, have just been shown in a promotional shot as the inseparable hotel regulars Mia and Lucia of Sicily. Casting the Italian actors with Sabrina Impacciatore, who will play resort manager Valentina, was a no-brainer.

What is Expected to Happen in Season 2?

The White Lotus” was supposed to be a limited series consisting of six episodes, but its success was so overwhelming that the show was renewed for a second season. But because the first season’s character arcs concluded, the show was labeled as an anthology.

The second season will take fans to Sicily, where a new set of travelers is hoping to unwind at the White Lotus resort, rather than back to Hawaii. Inevitably, their attempts at renewal will fail in the most spectacular way possible, and we’ll be treated to another six episodes of biting satire as the wealthy are finally made to face their many pathologies.

The basic idea of this show is to throw together an assortment of unrelated people and watch how they get along. Without the show’s superb actors and smart writing, it would be a disaster.

Will They Move to a New Location?

Before it was officially announced that season 2 will take place in Sicily, White hinted to Entertainment Weekly in August 2021 that the series would go internationally.

Since the Enlightenment inventor admitted that he and his wife could never afford to stay at the Four Seasons in Maui, he claimed that the couple would instead choose a less luxurious destination. “I mean, I guess The White Lotus: Kyoto or something.”

He told EW that the writers “could get into culture clash themes and stuff like that” after they left the United States. How do you say “Pineapple Suite” in Japanese?

Final Thoughts

The second season of HBO’s anthology series about the wealthy and disgruntled in a network of posh resorts will premiere in October.

The Mike White series is relocating to Sicily, where new hotel employees and visitors will clash. Jennifer Coolidge, who is featured on the cover of this week’s issue of Variety, is the only series regular returning to her role as spiritually searching socialite Tanya McQuoid.
