Lindsey Vonn is a former United States Ski Team member who competed in alpine ski racing on the World Cup circuit. She is one of just two female skiers, along with Annemarie Moser-Proll, to have won four overall World Cup championships, and she did so four times.
Early Years
On October 18, 1984, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Lindsey Caroline Kildow was brought into the world by her parents, Linda Anne and Alan Lee Kildow. Her grandfather taught her how to ski when she was two years old, and they lived in Milton, Wisconsin.
After that, she enrolled in the well-known ski development program that Erich Sailer ran at Buck Hill, located in Burnsville, Minnesota. Vonn first became acquainted with Picabo Street, an Olympic skier who had won a gold medal, when she was just 9 years old.
In 1999, when Vonn was 15 years old and skied for the first time, a stranger on the street was so moved by the experience that she taught Vonn how to ski. Vonn is now one of the most successful ski racers in the world.
In the late 1990s, Vonn’s family moved to Vail, Colorado, so that she could engage in full-time training. During her final year of high school, she completed her education through an online program offered by the University of Missouri.

She traveled the train to Colorado for a few years to learn how to ski at the “Ski Club Vail” (SCV), which is an alpine racing program for ambitious skiers aged 6 and older. During those years, she competed in several races.

During her first year at “SCV,” she participated in a skiing program called “Gravity Corps,” designed for younger pupils.
At the 1999 edition of the Trofeo Topolino di Sci Alpino in Italy, the “Cadets” slalom competition was won by Will McDonald and Lindsey, making them the first Americans ever to do it.
At the United States Alpine Championships in 2008, she was victorious in the downhill and the slalom events.
Lindsey made history when she became the first woman to win the world super-G title at the “World Championships” in Val-d’Isère, which took place in France in 2009.
She was victorious in the downhill leg of the super combined competition, and her performance in the slalom was very close to being worthy of second place. However, she was eventually kicked out of the round for smashing a gate.
