On September 25, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, the fifth season of The Rookie will begin airing on Sunday nights.
Within less than a month of its season 4 finale, the show’s Instagram revealed the much-anticipated news. “When you hear that the season premiere of #TheRookie is Sept 25 on ABC 👏 Who can’t wait to tune in?!”

To celebrate, Nathan Fillion, who portrays LAPD officer John Nolan, sent a photo to his Instagram account. Dedicated to his fellow Rookie co-stars and followers, the actor posted a poignant statement on Instagram.
He stated, “I couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished with this show,” he wrote. “Congratulations to our cast, crew, writers, producers, casting directors, directors, and everyone who has lent their talents to #therookieabc over the years. This job brings me real joy, I look forward to many more episodes with you all.”

What Is Expected to Happen in Season 5?
Season 5 of Rookie is planned to build on the foundation laid down in previous seasons and carry on the tale begun in the series’ last episode, which aired on ABC on May 15, 2022.
Viewers saw Nolan and Bailey take a journey to the high desert, but he was requested to train a new sheriff’s deputy and the traffic stop led to a horrific attempt to free the offender from a heavily armed criminal gang in the last episode. It’s back to business as usual in Los Angeles, but Bradford and Chen’s personal relationship takes an unexpected turn when they hunt down and arrest a courier who resembles Bradford.
From the very end of the final episode, the next season is expected to pick up and reveal where the series’ overarching plot, in terms of characters and storylines, is going.
