To stream The Man from Toronto, a Sony Pictures release, Netflix has purchased the distribution rights. Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson are the film’s leading actors. On August 12, the movie was supposed to hit theatres. But now it’ll be available exclusively on Netflix.
Netflix and Sony struck a deal last year that included this acquisition. Streamers have first dibs on direct-to-streaming movies, Deadline reports. The Sony-Netflix collaboration kicked off with the announcement of Emma Corrin, Jack O’Connell, and Matthew Duckett in Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
On The Man from Toronto, Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner write the scripts, while Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch produce the film, as well. Executive producers include Bill Bannerman, Aaron, and Jason Cloth.
What little we do know about the impending action-comedy is summarised here!

What Will The Man From Toronto Be About?
It’s all we know from the synopsis so far: a “screw-up” from New York and a deadly assassin are forced to work together after a case of mistaken identity. While living at an Airbnb, Teddy’s life is turned upside down when he’s mistaken for the assassin and thrust into the middle of a dangerous situation.
In the absence of a trailer for the film, we are left with more questions than answers about the plot.
Nobody knows who the bad guy is, or why a “screw-up” and a deadly assassin decided to establish a team up in the first place. An upcoming trailer could provide answers to some of our questions and shed light on the characters in the near future.
“The world’s deadliest assassin and New York’s biggest screw-up are mistaken for each other at an Airbnb rental.”
The Man From Toronto: Release Date
Ongoing epidemic victims include the man from Toronto. It has been postponed numerous times. While originally scheduled for November 2020, it was subsequently postponed to September 2021 before being scrapped entirely. Again, the release date of August 2022 is no longer relevant.

Additional Details About the Upcoming Movie:
It’s interesting to note that we might not have known Harrelson as the “Man From Toronto” had he not been in this film. Jason Statham, known for his roles in action films, was originally slated to play the role.
It was reported that Statham pulled out of the film just weeks before it was scheduled to begin shooting because of a disagreement over its rating. The Man from Toronto was given a PG-13 rating by the studio, most likely in an effort to broaden the appeal of the film to a wider audience.
Statham, on the other hand, reportedly wanted the film to be classed R. A movie with a “restricted” rating is off-limits to children and teenagers who aren’t accompanied by an adult. Because of the restrictions on viewing imposed by an R classification pushed by Statham, Sony would have suffered a large drop in box office revenue.
Possibly because of his image as an action star, Statham was desperate for an R-rating. Although he has appeared in films with PG-13 ratings, such as Hobbs and Shaw, his favored type of extreme action may not have been suited to a PG-13 certification.
