There’s no way to fault the second season of The Umbrella Academy for following a similar plot to season one because it’s so humorous, fast-paced, and action-packed. Apocalyptic events loom over the Hargreeves siblings in both seasons, which conclude with the siblings traveling back in time to a different epoch.
Both stories are very different, but the ending of Season two hints at some exciting possibilities for season three by setting the stage for a new adventure, as well as the introduction of a parallel school for young heroes: the Sparrow Academy.
The Umbrella Academy vs. Sparrow Academy clash has been given new life with the release of the first full-length trailer for Season Three.
All eyes are on these two teams as they fight, insult and glare at each other in an all-too-brief new season trailer for the show. They don’t like each other, and that’s clear. Here’s everything else we know about The Umbrella Academy Season 3 so far if you’re ready to receive your antidote to superhero burnout.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3: Release Date
The third season of The Umbrella Academy will premiere on Netflix on June 22, 2022, with the aim that it will explain some of the concerns we’ve had since season two’s shocking conclusion in 2020.
We may look forward to ten additional episodes in the near future. Season three filming was supposed to have ended up a while ago, but given how important the special effects are to this show, the wait is understandable.
Supervisor of special effects and visual effects It took months and months to plan the apocalyptic vision in season two, according to Everett Burrell.
“A lot of the feature film effects tools have now trickled down into the TV industry, so we’re able to get bigger and more epic-looking stuff… So every season we have to top ourselves by utilizing the newest and best tools that we can get a hold of.”

Who Will Be in the Cast of The Umbrella Academy Season 3?
Another of the 43 super children, Lila (Ritu Arya), who was adopted by Handler agent The Handler (Kate Walsh, not confirmed to return), is returning after escaping through one of The Commission’s time-travel briefcases, reports Deadline.com. As for Colm Feore, he will reprise his role as Hargreeves.
Which New Member Will Join the Cast?
Euphoria’s Ashtray, played by Euphoria actor Javon Walton, teased us with a cryptic tease for the upcoming season in February.
Walton described the cast as “phenomenal” in a statement. “My character, on the other hand, is something that people aren’t going to expect. Because of this, people will think I’m going to join the other academy and all that stuff. People are surprised, but it’s a surprise nonetheless.”
What Is The Plot of The Umbrella Academy?
From Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy is a superhero group unlike any you’ve seen before. Seven of the 43 youngsters born with unusual powers on the same day around the world make up the group.
Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a rich businessman, took in the seven orphans and searched for as many as he could, forming what appeared to be a family but was really an exclusive group of superheroes.
When their father died in Season 1, the now-adult brothers were forced to face impending doom, which they avoided by time-jumping to the early 1960s, which is the setting for Season 2. As we’ll learn more about in Season 2, they were also being pursued by The Commission, a time-keeping institution we’ll learn more about later.
Official Synopsis of The Umbreall Academy Season 3
“After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them.
Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns.
Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused)… Now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong.
Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?”
How does Season 2 of Umbrella Academy Conclude?
The Umbrella Academy defeats The Handler and her Commission goons in Dallas towards the end of the story. With a little help from the Commission’s new leader, Herb, the Hargreeves siblings are able to travel back in time to the year they left at the end of Season One: 2019.
Their departure marks the beginning of an entirely different 2019 than the one they left behind. Umbrella Academy’s mansion hasn’t been demolished yet. Ben, who died 17 years ago in their timeline, is still alive and well in this new-old world.
Reginald Hargreeves, their biological father, is also absent from the series, but the siblings were reunited after his death early on. In addition, Ben and Reginald do not recognize the rest of their comrades, and they inform the visitors that they have arrived at the Sparrow Academy, not the Umbrella Academy.
