It was a joy to see Bridgerton on Netflix in late 2020, a period drama with a lot of sex and scandal. The second season of the TV series, which premiered in March 2022, further stoked our interest in Lady Whistledown’s narrative of the events from beginning to end.
Both ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me,’ by Juila Quinn, and ‘The Duke and I,’ by Quinn, inspired the first and second series. We’ll be able to keep following Bridgerton for a lot longer now that there are eight volumes in the series.
Bridgerton season 3 and season 4 have already been confirmed by Netflix, so here’s all we know so far about the upcoming season.
Bridgerton Season 3: Release Date
According to Netflix, Season 4 of Bridgerton was confirmed at the same time as Season 3, which indicated that more drama was to come.
However, Bridgerton’s third season release date has yet to be announced. That remains to be seen, but we’re looking for it in the first half of 2023. There was a two-season gap between the first and second seasons of Bridgerton.
It’s possible that Season 3 will premiere between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, but we believe that 2023 is the most likely date for its release.
According to Entertainment Tonight’s interview with Shonda Rhimes, writing has already begun for the third season: “We got a bit imaginative and so we’re already starting on season 3. As you’ll see, this has already begun. Allow time to pass.”
Who will return in Bridgerton Season 3?
It is likely that many of the cast members from seasons one and two will return for season three. Season 2 cast who may or may not return for Season 3 include the following, even if their roles aren’t as significant:
- Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton
- Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
- Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton
- Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
- Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
- Ruth Gemmell as Lady Bridgerton
- Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
- Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury
What will be the storyline of Bridgerton Season 3?
If the series follows the plot of the Bridgerton books, the third season of Bridgerton will focus on Benedict Bridgerton’s search for Sophie Beckett, a girl he met at a masquerade ball. An Offer from a Gentleman” is the third novel of the series and features Sophie, an illegitimate daughter of Earl Penwood.
When the earl dies, Araminta, his widow, learns that employing her stepdaughter Sophie will bring in more money, so she does just that. At a masquerade party, Sophie has a chance encounter with Benedict that has a profound impact on her life.
Seasons two and three would “not necessarily happen in order,” as Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Tonight. Because the first and second seasons of Bridgerton deviated from the books in several ways, it’s safe to assume that season three will do the same.
Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, the romantic duo featured in the fourth Bridgerton book, could be hinted at in season 3 of Bridgerton, according to rumors. Keep an eye on this space to find out!
