Is Our Father based on a true story?

Although the man you see in the trailer is probably not the real Dr. Donald Cline, and some of the incidents in the trailer undoubtedly look manufactured, re-enacted, or dramatized, the narrative itself is all too genuine.

At least 50 children were born through his Indiana fertility clinic in the 1970s and 1980s after he admitted to using his own sperm in sperm donations. The rise of at-home DNA tests and social media helped these half-siblings find one other.

When Cline was in his late 70s, his natural-born son arranged a meeting between the six of them at a restaurant where they confronted him face-to-face.

Where the storyline of Our Father revolves around?

The teaser gives us a glimpse of the plot by showing us a group of ancestry.com members who band together to expose a hoax. Taking a DNA test is something that many people do these days to find out if they are related to one other. Unaware of their seven half-siblings, they gather to learn the truth about their biological father and are taken aback.

David Cline, the fertility doctor of their parents, was the one who exchanged his sperm with the fathers and was pregnant with the women without their permission. Is your heart racing? There is more. He now has numerous children, and these are just the seven that have come out to share their thoughts.

More than a hundred may be lurking in the shadows, but we have no way of knowing for sure. It’s even more astonishing to learn that this powerful and well-respected man has been living a carefree existence.

It would be interesting to see how Dr. Cline’s offspring, who have no idea how many siblings he has, untangle his evil deeds. However unsettling the film and trailer may be, it’s nothing new for Netflix to use a true tale that’s both horrible and chilling as inspiration.
