Why the Plan of Producing Pacific Rim 3 Have Been Dropped ?

Pacific Rim 3

“Pacific Rim,” which came out in 2013, seemed to satisfy our mortals’ insatiable natural urge to be dazzled by breathtaking visuals. ‘Transformers’ has been operating in this similar arena for years now.

Pacific Rim did seem to mix strength and intelligence, which was a departure from the previous series’ formula. It is not ashamed of its silliness, and as a result, it has grown to enormous proportions. What Pacific Rim did better than any other modern-day Transformer or Godzilla film is that it had colodious characters.

Cast of Pacific Rim

Plot of Pacific Rim

Two ex-pilots team up to pilot a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a last ditch effort to save the world from doom as a war between humans and horrific sea creatures continues.

When Kaiju, sea monsters, began rising from the depths of the ocean, a war broke out that would ravage the planet for years to come. Massive robots called Jaegers, operated by two pilots through a brain bridge, were developed to take on the huge Kaiju in order to battle the threat they posed.

Even the Jaegers, however, are showing their vulnerability against the unrelenting Kaiju. Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, two unlikely heroes, are paired up to drive an old but seemingly useless Jaeger from the past as a last-ditch effort to save humanity from annihilation at the hands of the Jaegers. Apocalypse is nearing, and they are humanity’s only hope.

Release Date of Pacific Rim 3

A sequel was planned by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures after the original film was only moderately successful. Del Toro worked on it for a long time and planned to helm “Pacific Rim 2” under his own direction. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the timeliness of the project. “The Shape of Water,” as del Toro recounted to Collider in 2017, was the film he ultimately decided to shoot instead, and it went on to win the Best Picture Oscar.

A tweet from del Toro shortly afterward said, however, “I’m only talking as a fan BTW–NO intentions to return.” That being said, do not place too much stock in your expectations.

Final Thoughts

Nothing about a third instalment of the “Pacific Rim” has been officially announced by the studios. That’s understandable, given that “Uprising” didn’t do so well at the box office or critical level.
