Storyline of Haikyuu

After seeing a national championship match on television, Hinata Shouyou became enamoured with the sport of volleyball. Shouyou joined his school’s volleyball team in an effort to emulate the championship’s top player. There wasn’t even a place to practise because he was the only member.

While it didn’t prevent him from competing in his last year, the team was unlucky enough to face the championship favourite and star player, Kageyama Tobio, known as “the king of court,” in their first round match.

Shouyou’s squad is humiliated, but he pledges to improve and one day overtake Kageyama in skill. Shouyou is now a freshman in high school, attending the same school he had first seen in action during the national finals a few years earlier.

After discovering that he and Kageyama are now attending the same high school, Shouyou plans to join the volleyball team, practise tirelessly, and wipe the floor with Kageyama when they meet on the court. But only if they can put aside their differences and learn to function as a team instead of individuals can the volleyball team benefit from their talents.
