How I Met Your Father Season 2 Release Date: What We Know So Far About This Series!

The second season of Hulu’s sitcom How I Met Your Father, starring Hilary Duff as Sophie, has been renewed for a third season. Season two will consist of 20 episodes, which is more than double the number of episodes in the current season. The showrunners of This Is Us, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, have been picked up for a 20th television series, which will premiere in the fall of 2015.

While not a sequel to the similarly called How I Met Your Mother, which aired on CBS from 2005 to 2014 for nine seasons, How I Met Your Father is situated in the same version of New York City as its predecessor: the Upper East Side. It is revealed in the pilot that two of the program’s characters (played by Christopher Lowell and Suraj Sharma) have moved into the apartment that was previously occupied by Ted, Marshall, and Lily from the hit television show HIMYM (Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, and Alyson Hannigan).

Jordan Helman, head of scripted content for Hulu Originals, said, “How I Met Your Father has proven to be true appointment viewing for fans who cannot get enough of it week in and week out.” Isaac and Elizabeth’s inspired vision for How I Met Your Father has proven to be true appointment viewing for fans who cannot get enough of it week in and week out. “The lives of these individuals, as played by the extremely brilliant ensemble led by Hilary Duff, are only just beginning to unfold, and we’re happy to be able to share more of this group’s journey with our viewers with a supersized second season,” said the show’s executive producer, Scott Silver.

How I Met Your Father Season 2

Hulu renewed HIMYF for a second season last year after a few prior iterations of the show failed to land on CBS’ schedule in the years following the conclusion of How I Met Your Mother. Both Aptaker and Berger write and executive produce the film, which is based on their second attempt at the concept in 2016. They first attempted it in 2016, then revisited it later.

First, in 2014, HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas teamed up with actress Emily Spivey (Parks and Recreation) for the film How I Met Your Dad. Greta Gerwig starred in the pilot, which was ultimately passed over by CBS. After Aptaker and Berger’s first attempt at the premise failed, Allison Bennett (You’re the Worst) was hired to take another stab at it; this attempt, too, failed to move the project further.

Twenty-first Television, the Disney Television Studios unit that previously created HIMYM, was responsible for all of the prior attempts, as well as the now-renewing series (The previous three attempts occurred while the studio was still under the control of Fox.)

Additionally, Francia Raisa and Tien Tran appear in the How I Met Your Father cast, which also features Kim Cattrall, who plays a future version of Sophie and narrates her story of finding love.

The film is executive produced by Aptaker and Berger, as well as Bays, Thomas, director Pam Fryman, and actor Adam Londy. Duff is a member of the production team. As well as writing for the show’s pilot, Bays, Thomas, and Spivey are credited.
