‘Gate,’ also known as Gate: Jieitai Kanochi night, Kaku Tatakaeri in Japanese, is a fantasy anime series based on a manga of the same name and a light novel of the same name. The light novels, written by Takumi Yanai and illustrated by Daisuke Izuka and Kurojishi, were first released on April 12, 2010, and have since been reprinted several times. The last volume was published on December 22, 2011, and is available online. It was made into a manga series created by Satoru Sao in July 2011 before the series came to a stop before it could be completed. Since then, three spin-off manga series based on the original series have been produced in the United States. There is no dispute about the show’s popularity, and viewers are eager to find out when the new season will be available.
Season 1 of the series was launched on July 4, 2015, five years after the publication of the light novel series, and was the first season to air. It quickly became a huge sensation with the audience, and Season 2 launched less than a year later, on January 9, 2016, to rave reviews. In the meantime, fans are curious as to where the third season is at in terms of release and storyline development.
When Will the Third Season of ‘gate’ Premiere?
The second episode aired on January 9, 2016, and the season finale was broadcast on March 26, 2016, according to previous seasons. Although there has been no formal announcement of a third season, fans are optimistic that it will happen because there is still plenty of time for the show’s creators to renew Gate. Taking a wild guess, we may expect the third season to premiere sometime around 2022 or 2023. Let us hold off on getting our hopes up till the formal announcement is made.
Is There a Story Behind ‘gate’?
The show is a collision between the present world and the fantasy realm. A doorway from another world opened up one day in modern-day Tokyo, and warriors and creatures from that world descended on the country, commencing a full-scale assault of the Earth from Japan. Japan, on the other hand, finds it difficult to repel the invading forces, who rapidly engulf the district of Ginza in flames. Following this, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces decide to launch a counter-offensive to drive the invaders back to their starting point. After ultimately forcing the invaders out of the country, the Japanese Defense Forces (JSDF) take advantage of the situation to create a forward operating base (FOB) on the other side of the Gate, from where they may prepare for and negotiate with the invaders.
The story centers around a character named Youji Itami, who is a 33-year-old man who is selected to be a member of a special reconnaissance team to the opposite side, known as the Special Region, as part of a Japanese Defense Group task force. They begin to selflessly aid the locals, including Princess Pina Co Lada while exploring the Special Region, even though they are fighting and enduring multiple attacks. This is in response to an ancient and ferocious dragon and a band of marauders that they encounter. Soon after, Youji and his unit, as well as the Japanese soldiers as a whole, acquire the confidence of the locals.
Things began outgoing the way Youji had hoped they would in the beginning. Things took a turn for the worst when he ended up undermining Crown Prince Zorzal. The Crown Prince, who feels deceived and humiliated, takes it personally and forms an anti-Crown Prince organization. He takes leadership of the forces of the Special Region and seeks to exact vengeance on the Japanese people and government. To spark an all-out war against Japan, he ruins the locals by deceiving his forces into disguising and wreaking havoc on the residents to provoke them with fury.
Even after this, the Japanese force is not deterred and plots a rescue attempt to free Princess Pina Co Lada, Emperor Molt Sol Augustus, and anti-war senators who have been imprisoned in the Imperial City. The Japanese soldiers are still dealing with Prince Zorzal and the Gate, which serves as a link between two other universes, which is a never-ending challenge for the Japanese military.
The Characters: Who Are They?
Youji Itami, Princess Pia Co-Lada, Rory Mercury, Lelei la Lalena, and Tuka Luna Marceau are the major characters of the anime series, even though there are many others.
What Can We Expect From the Third Episode of the Anime Series?
If we go by what is said in the novel, the third season is more likely to adopt the ‘Gate: Weigh Anchor’ novels, which are set in Japan and focus on the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces rather than the Japan Self-Defense Forces. As previously said, the JMSDF has been to the other side of the planet to conduct research. However, something fascinating occurs in the novel series of the latter volume, which opens a portal to the Xenomorph homeworld, resulting in creatures infesting the Special Region within a short time. Although this is a possibility, it will only occur if and when A-1 Pictures acquires a license to exploit the Alien franchise for Gate season 3.
