What is Vitali Klitschko’s Net Worth and Salary?

Vitali Klitschko is a former professional heavyweight boxer who is currently serving as a member of the Ukrainian parliament. He has an estimated net worth of $80 million. Klitschko, often known as “Dr. Ironfirst” by his supporters (a reference to his knockout power as well as his Ph.D.), was a legendary boxer who gained significant success before declaring his retirement from the sport in 2013.

Vitali won many world heavyweight championships during the course of his professional career. He held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) title from 1999 to 2000, then he had the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt from 2004 to 2013.

In his fights for the world heavyweight championship, he defeated 15 different opponents. When it comes to world heavyweight title battle wins as siblings, Vitali and his brother, Wladimir Klitschko, hold the world record for the most victories. In recognition of these successes, the era between 2006 and 2015 was designated as the “Klitschko Era.”

As a result of his many abilities, Vitali achieved an 87 percent knockout percentage by the time he retired from boxing. In his whole professional career, he only suffered two losses, both of which were due to stoppages after he became too injured to continue.

After retiring, he became a member of an extremely rare group of fighters who had never been knocked out in a single battle. He is also the only heavyweight boxer to have won world championships in three different decades, a distinction he shares with Muhammad Ali (the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s).

Besides that, he and George Foreman are the only two heavyweight fighters to have successfully defended a title after turning 40.

When he’s not in the ring, Vitali has made a name for himself as a political activist with a strong interest in and involvement in politics.

The beginning of this occurred even before his retirement when he finished second in the Kyiv mayoral election in 2006. In 2010, he established a political party known as the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR), which is also known as the UDAR. When Klitschko joined this party, he was eventually elected to the parliament, and he rose through the ranks to become a prominent role during the Euromaidan protests in 2013 and 2014.

On May 24, 2015, Vitali was elected as the Mayor of the Ukrainian capital. On November 15, 2015, he was re-elected to a second term. Klitschko was re-elected as mayor of Kyiv in the same year he was appointed as the new party leader of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. He has recently defected from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc in an attempt to bring the UDAR back to life.

Klitschko supported himself as a young man by working as a toolmaker at the Kyiv Automation Plant. Long after his arrest, Vitali was accused of working as a debt collector for a mafia boss in the 1990s, a charge that he has categorically refuted.

Klitschko had graduated from the Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky Pedagogical Institute in 1996 (the same year he turned professional as a boxer), and he was a professional boxer by 1997. A Ph.D. in Sports Science was awarded to him in 2000 after presenting his doctoral thesis on the topic “talent and sponsorship in sports.”

Career

Klitschko began boxing in the 1980s, and he received the majority of his training from former Soviet boxer Anatoliy Klimanov. When the Soviet Union decided to lift the prohibition on kickboxing, Vitali jumped at the chance to learn the sport.

During these formative years, he competed and trained in kickboxing, karate, and boxing, demonstrating promise in all three disciplines during the process. By 1996, he had decided to pursue a professional boxing career and had signed a contract with a production company based in Germany.

Vitali immediately established himself as a formidable opponent, winning his first 24 fights via knockout or technical knockout. In 1999, he won the World Boxing Organization heavyweight championship by knocking out Herbie Hide in the second round. He subsequently successfully defended his championship twice but was defeated by Chris Byrd in 2000.

Because Vitali sustained a major shoulder injury, the race was halted for much of the way. Klitschko was winning the fight on the scorecards at the time it was stopped by the referee. After that, he received a great deal of criticism for walking away from the bout, but he came back with five straight victories.
