What’s the status of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake?

Recall the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time—specifically, the remake that popped up on Uplay in the year 2020? It was delayed, then delayed again, and then almost completely disappeared from the public consciousness after Ubisoft decided not to even show it off at its E3 press conference in June, as had been expected.

That’s not a good sign for a game that was supposed to launch just a few months after it was announced (in January 2021), but Ubisoft has put the project back on the table with a gentle reminder that no, the project is not dead, and yes, the company is still actively working on it today.

“We want to take a moment to reassure you that the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still underway, motivated and inspired by your feedback,” the publisher tweeted. “We will update you on our progress in the future and want to thank all of you for your unwavering support and patience.”

However, Ubisoft confirmed in its quarterly financial report today that the Sands of Time remake is expected to be released sometime during its fiscal year 2022-23, which is the next fiscal year following the current one. The date would fall somewhere between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, if we were to use the calendar.
