The Society Season 2: Things You Need To Know!
The spoilers for the Society will be revealed after this paragraph.
Season finale of Netflix’s YA series The Society left viewers begging for more, revealing the fate of West Ham’s teen residents for the first time. Season two of The Society has been cancelled by Netflix, which means there will be even more tears shed in the coming days!
“We’ve made the difficult choice not to proceed with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This,” Netflix said in a statement. COVID’s actions have forced us to make these difficult options.”
According to a source at The Hollywood Reporter, the “uncertainty” about air dates, “unexpected budget rises,” and the complexities of managing a large cast were obstacles that proved too huge to overcome, despite the fact that both series did well.
Showrunner Chris Keyser said, “We spent the previous few months getting ready to go back again, dealing with all the COVID protocols.” I subsequently received a phone call from Netflix saying, ‘We have taken this decision,’” she continued. Evidently, it was jarring and upsetting.
“We were dealing with Netflix and the surge in the budget and all of that kind of stuff,” Keyser explained. As a result of these discussions, the team was well aware of the potential pitfalls.
A summer shoot was originally planned for Season 2, according to Keyser. We were, however, returning to fall and winter. They came to the conclusion that it was simply too much for them. “That’s what I’m assuming.”
I’m not going to pretend that I’m astonished,” he said. “I know we talked about the difficulties of producing in this atmosphere for many months.
No one likes to see the novel they’re creating come to an end, and I would prefer that the characters not become the children of New Ham, who vanished suddenly, abruptly, never to be seen again. However, I can’t say that I have full control over that.
According to him, “This is incredibly troubling.” “However, anyone could benefit from it. We have no choice but to deal with the losses that this pandemic has brought, as so many people have done in this period. We’re just another one of many shuttered small businesses and eateries with no plans to reopen. Many of our citizens have lost their employment, but this is a nationwide problem.
Fans of the show have begun a Change.org petition begging Netflix to renew the series, which presently has more than 130,000 signatures, after the surprise revelation. Kathryn Newton, a well-known actress, also signed the petition and made a public announcement about it via Twitter.

Despite the fact that the first season aired more than two years ago, many remain hopeful that the show would return. For the most part, the performers in The Society are already older than they are in real life, so the three-year gap between seasons wouldn’t be that obvious.
Many of the cast members who appeared in season one have now gone on to other projects.
Since The Society ended, Kathryn Newton, who played Allie, has starred in Freaky and The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, and is now filming Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Pacific Rim: The Black’s Gideon Adlon and The Staircase’s Olivia DeJonge are working on projects, and Jack Mulhern recently wrapped up filming for his role in Mare of Easttown and is currently filming the miniseries Painkiller with Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick.
Even though The Society was cancelled, creator Christopher Keyser hasn’t been waiting for the phone to ring. Julia, starring Sarah Lancashire, David Hyde Pierce, and Bebe Neuwirth as Julia’s husband Paul and publisher Avis DeVoto, is now in development by him and his former Frasier castmate Bebe Neuwirth. Keyser is expected to write the screenplay for Ben Affleck’s upcoming adaptation of Witness for the Prosecution, based on Agatha Christie’s novel.
Season 2 of The Society: What were the unanswered questions?
Parents, younger siblings, and everyone else were in an other world, the “true” one, while they were trapped in an alternate reality that looked and felt precisely like their hometown.
However, now that a piece of the puzzle has been uncovered, another important question must be addressed: will the town’s youth ever be able to return home, or will they be trapped there for all time?
In an official announcement of the show’s return, the cast said the following: “We have some huge news to share with the people of New Ham, news that’s bigger than when Gordie realised we’re living in a parallel reality.
“Do you have what it takes? A new season of The Society is currently in the works. What does this mean, exactly? There should be more pie, of course. The fugitive has become even more so. This is not enough. More information. Concerning Charlie. And the father of Becca’s child. As well as his hair. You won’t regret waiting.”
Keyser, on the other hand, said that “more answers” didn’t necessarily mean all the solutions.
“It’s hard to predict,” he told TV Guide, “whether or not we’ll divulge everything.” “The questions have been answered. I don’t know if it’s better for the kids to be completely in the dark or completely certain at some point for dramatic purposes.
“Even if they can figure out how to reverse it or if it can be reversed, I believe that the signals of [how they got there] will always be somewhat obscure to them. This information is difficult to obtain.”
Until it was abruptly axed, we knew the following regarding season two:
Is there a Netflix release date for season 2 of The Society?
Netflix cancelled season two of The Society because of the influence of COVID-19 on the television and film industries, as previously discussed.
On April 2, Deadline reported that the second season of The Society was planned to premiere in “late 2020.”
