According to Celine Dion, she is experiencing muscle spasms that will prevent her from performing in her upcoming performances in Las Vegas, which she has decided to cancel. The shows affected were scheduled for November and January-February 2022 at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas and were originally scheduled for November and January-February 2020.
Celine Dion, who is 53 years old, has been suffering from “severe and persistent” muscle spasms and is currently undergoing treatment for them. Because of her medical issues, she has been unable to rehearse the shows, which has resulted in cancellations. AXS and the Resorts World Theatre box offices will automatically refund any customers who purchased tickets for the residency through their websites. Those who made their purchases through other marketplaces should contact the retailer where they made their purchase to find out about their refund or credit options.
“I’m absolutely devastated by this,” Celine stated in a press release issued by AEG. “My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and the fact that we will not be able to debut it in November is heartbreaking beyond words.” My colleagues at Resorts World Las Vegas and AEG have been working around the clock to complete the construction of this brand-new, state-of-the-art theater, which is absolutely stunning in its design. I’m so sorry for letting them down, and I’m especially sorry for disappointing all of the fans who have been making plans to visit me in Las Vegas in recent weeks. Now it’s time to concentrate on getting better… “I want to get through this as quickly as possible.”
The residency had been scheduled for two runs, the first of which would take place from November 5-20 this year and the second of which would take place from January 19-February 5 in 2022. The purchasers of the canceled shows will be granted access to a special presale for future performances in Las Vegas, once the dates for the new shows have been announced.
According to John Meglen, President and Co-CEO of Concerts West/AEG Presents, “Celine is a member of our family and the most important thing right now is for her to concentrate on getting better.” For over two decades, we’ve witnessed firsthand how dedicated and resilient Celine is. We’ve also witnessed how she is happiest when she is on stage doing what she loves most: entertaining her fans. Our team is poised to release new Las Vegas show dates as soon as Celine is ready.”
In the words of Scott Sibella, President of Resorts World Las Vegas, “If there’s anything these trying times have taught us, it’s that nothing is more important than your well-being.” Although we are eager to open the theatre, we understand and support Celine’s decision to postpone her shows, which we understand was a difficult decision. We wish her a speedy recovery on behalf of the entire Resorts World Las Vegas family, and we look forward to welcoming her to her new home when she is ready and able to perform again.”
