Telegram adds 2.5 cr new users in a few days, WhatsApp’s popularity falls as rival app grows

WhatsApp has been one of the most popular application for communication. As WhatsApp has become an important part of our lives. But due to recent update which company is asking people to do has lead to the fall on popularity of WhatsApp. The users are feeling that their privacy is unsafe if they are updating the application. And this results as it has dug its own grave by announcing this new privacy policy. This had resulted in the apps like Signal and Telegram has gained too much attention. These applications had saw a huge number of new users that have joined this platform. Even various people have been asking to switch over the Signal or Telegram Elon Musk and Vijay Shekhar Sharma has also asked people through their twitter handle to shift from WhatsApp.


Telegram gained new users

Due to ths new policy people are switching over telegram they believe that the app offers them more privacy security. The application has gained 2.5 cores of users in just 72 hours. All thanks to the new WhatsApp policy. Whereas the number has been increased to over 38% coming from Asia, 27% from Europe, 21% drim Latin America, and almost 8% from the Middle East and Northern Africa. This huge rise in the attraction towards the application will surely affect the WhatsApp and results could be seen so far.

Signal rise in users

Not only Telegram Signal has also gained too much attention when WhatsApp has upgraded it’s privacy policy. The app has shown over 23 lakh new downloads between January 6 and January 10. This data is just for the Indian market. Whereas the app has more than 16 lakh new downloads in the same period.

Threat to WhatsApp Popularity

The new privacy policy has become a threats to one of the most amazing application which is WhatsApp. The app has shown fall down by 35% over the January 6 to January 10 time period. But according to Durov the company has took the responsibility very seriously. And they have claimed that the company will not let the people down. However, the actual situation will be known to the users in near future and hope things will get back to normal soon.
