NASA Osiris Rex spacecraft is all set to launch on asteroid Bennu on Tuesday. This spacecraft will seize some rocks and dirt from its floor to be returned to Earth for the examination. This will be the biggest achievement for NASA. It is a boon for science and various areas of exploration. NASA will broadcast the TAG maneuver dwell on NASA TV and the agency’s website. This will start at 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The 101955 Benny is ready to go down at around 3:12 p.m. PT.
Rubble Pile asteroid “Bennu”
Here we understand why NASA choose Bennu. Bennu is referred to as a rubble pile asteroid. It was fashioned within the deep cosmic previous. This is when the gravity slowly pressured collectively remnants of a historical collision. It is considered a window into the photovoltaic system. It has a unique physique like a spinning prime with a diameter of around a 3rd of a mile. Along with a floor strewn with giant rocks and boulders. There are some resources that resemble water and metals. Bennu has an opportunity of impacting Earth within the distant future. It is ranked as No. 2 Current Knowledge reveals dozens of potential impacts within the closing quarter of the 22nd century. Bennu is at around 1,900 feet in diameter.
The reason behind choosing Bennu
Bennu is just like other asteroids. But it is leftovers from the cloud of gas and dust that collapsed to form the Sun and the planets about 4.5 billion years ago. However, since then various other asteroids have collided with each other. They have also gone with many changes in heat, but small, carbon-rich Bennu appears to be virtually unchanged. This might be the reason NASA has chosen Bennu.
Where to watch
The viewers can watch this life. However, NASA’s live streaming starts at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
This mission began in 2004. After more than 10 years of development, the spacecraft released on September 8, 2016, at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Later the ship spent 26 months cruising to Benu. This has officially arrived on December 3, 2018. Since then the team of NASA has been orbiting the rock. And finally, this day has come. This will be the biggest achievement for NASA. Although, NASA must have done various other missions like this. But this time it brings more excitement among the people.
