Turkey’s president celebrated the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad on Wednesday. Muslims worldwide celebrate this occasion Mawlid al-Nabawi on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal. This is the 3rd Month of the Islamic lunar calendar. This day is considered as the spiritual significance in Islam. There is a belief in the people that this is the religious occasion in life.


History of Mawlid

Muhammad was born in Mecca. This occasion is celebrated by the Sunni Muslims on the 12th day of the Islamic calendar. His birthday falls in the month of Rabi al-awwal. Whereas Shi’a Muslims celebrate this day on the 17th day of this month. The name Mawlid comes from an Arabic word. Here the word refers to the birth anniversary of Muhammad. His birthday is celebrated among Muslims worldwide. It is also a public holiday in the Islamic calendar, also in Islamic countries. Whereas in some countries the schools, colleges, and other institutions remain open on this day. There are two sides that Muslims see from their point of view on Muhammad’s birthday. Some of them see this occasion as an event worthy of praise. But some of them see as contradictory to Islamic law. There are mixed believes among the people. Their way of celebration is also somewhat different. Mawlid is celebrated with large street parades in some countries. People even decorate their homes and mosques. This occasion is celebrated among the citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, or Australia. People have different points of view and different ways of celebration. Some of them donate gifts, foods to the children also on the streets. Some organize events where they could enjoy this big occasion in their lives. But there are some people who do no celebrate this day. But they do fasting they have another belief and religious faith for this occasion. Everyone has their own to celebrate this big occasion of birth.
